Ok, we all know this ain't Newport Beach, but who care's and the little
Filipino ''Boasted Chicken'' is AWsuM, a little joint in a small strip mall run by MaMa'san,Neph,&Grandma, Lourdes, is the owner, she is one
Sweet lady, and her nephew Jan, is helpful as well, i realize their specialty is the broasted chicken, i asked and Yes, luck has it they do have adobo, in this '' Hole in the Wall '' i opted for a classic Filipino dish
Chicken Adobo, i luckily scored only because Adobo's is serviced only
On Mon. Tues. & Wed,...Lourdes, asked, pancit or rice with the adobo,
I said, rice but pancit on the side, she offered up 1/2 and 1/2, nice deal !
It is a small unpretentious joint, but adequate enuff with i think 3 booths and 3 tables, there was 4 other perps eating there today !!! I noticed they Were all having the broasted chicken, well needless to say if i'm In the area again, i'm Gonna order some of their famous broasted chicken cuz it did look Yummiee, but so was my Chicken Adobo, the sauce was lathered in with the chicken, and the pancit was wonderfully seasoned,
Along with a side of white rice, yes, yes, it was a pinoy/pinay treat !!!!! -

When I was stationed in Ventura County for nearly 10 years, starting in 2003, I learned about Broasted Chicken through the word of mouth from co-workers. The place is located in Port Hueneme along Hueneme Road. It's a simple restaurant in which the customers pay at the counter and food delivered to the table. The area is relatively small with only three tables set up, two of which are booth style pushed against the wall near the entrance. There are two tables arranged outside as well. Most people come here to carry out the order and go.
As you enter, there is a food counter positioned right up front to where people can order the dish of the day, the turo-turo way or point at your pick among the assorted Filipino dish available. The food is always delicious and fresh. For the time that I come here, I have seen a total of three different owners throughout the years. As far as I know, the current owner is by far the longest who has ever held this chicken business in the area. The lady in charge is a fairly wonderful lady. She's very friendly, humble and makes you feel at home when dining in. The helpers are also customer friendly and every now and then have some stories to tell.
Aside from the Pinoy dishes, most customers resort to their all popular broasted chicken. My favorite entrée is the half rice half pansit that comes with lumpiang shanghai with leg and thigh. The pansit is flavorful and love their use of the angel hair bihon noodles. Ask for additional sweet hot sauce. It's good to pour the sauce on the rice and similarly complement well with the crunch fried lumpia. The broasted chicken here is to die for. The price is quite affordable and the food gives you the most satisfying feeling in the belly.
The utilization of the broasting technique via the broaster including the marinade ingredients to coat the chicken made the broasted chicken unbelievably crunchy and yet juicy from within. Although I am now settled in the SoCal area, I always stop by here with the family when we happen to go on a road trip Northside. I miss the staff (Ate Lourdes, Jon & Family) and food at this location. -

This little family-run Filipino place earns its stars with a limited but perfected menu, focusing on the deep-fried roasted chicken and a few sides, primarily lumpia (a Filipino version of egg roll) and pancit bihon-- angel hair noodles with bits of vegetable and chicken, perfectly seasoned. On weekdays they also have Chicken Adobo, a classic Filipino stew, which I haven't tried yet.
Their pancit was the best I've had in California. I first discovered pancit during a stint in the Philippines years ago, and Broasted Chicken's pancit had the umami-packed flavor that I remember. The chicken thigh was cooked to order, with crispy, flavorful un-battered skin and juicy flesh. The lumpia was fine, but nothing special. I'll go back again soon to try the Adobo and other daily specials. -

Broasted Chicken is a hole-in-the-wall restaurant known for their take on crispy Filipino-style chicken (no coating or batter). The humble interior is complimented by a simple and straightforward menu.
FOOD:
Fried Chicken: The skin was crispy and seasoned well, while the meat was well cooked, juicy, and piping hot. I definitely prefer the chicken here over Filipino fried chicken chain restaurants like Max's Restaurant (in Glendale and Puente Hills). The chicken here is cooked-to-order, so expect to wait a bit before your food is served.
Pancit and Lumpia: Combination plates come with a good amount of pancit (rice noodles with chicken and vegetables) and a piece of lumpia. Their pancit is basic, but had decent flavor. The lumpia is standard and nothing special.
Honeydew Smoothie with Boba: Decent. It actually tasted like honeydew, had a good sweetness, and had an adequate amount of boba. My main complaint is the overcooked boba; it was way too soft. Nonetheless, it paired well with what I ate.
Overall, this place is a solid local option for good fried chicken. -
